New JChem extensions for KNIME delivered by Infocom

New JChem extensions for KNIME delivered by Infocom provide integration of ChemAxon chemical structure handling functionality to the KNIME user community to enable chemical structure manipulations within the KNIME workflow environment.
TOKYO, JAPAN and ZURICH, SWITZERLAND – Infocom, Corporation, a ChemAxon integration partner and provider of Bioinformatics solutions announced the release of the new version of the JChem Extensions version 2 for KNIME. The modules allow researchers to handle chemical structure data using ChemAxon’s software tools such as Marvin, JChem, and Standardizer within the open source KNIME workflow environment.

The KNIME platform provides a modular environment to visually create data flows, analyze and build predictive models. The JChem Extensions contain some nodes that are free of charge for general use. These nodes are called “Marvin Family Nodes” which include a set of nodes for structure conversion, “Marvin Sketch”, “Marvin View”, and “Marvin Space” which offer sophisticated rendering capabilities for chemical structures that users of KNIME in the Cheminformatics sector have been waiting for.
"The JChem Extensions for KNIME and the Marvin Family Nodes allow researchers to achieve high quality drawing and visualization of chemical structures on top of the KNIME workflow platform” said Shojiro Morishita, General Manager and responsible for KNIME extensions at Infocom. "Our work allows the scientists in chemical and pharmaceutical research to use the ChemAxon tools together with the KNIME high quality data analysis and data mining functionality.”

“The JChem Extensions for KNIME are another example of the flexibility of ChemAxon's tools being integrated into all major workflow programs“ said Alex Drijver, CEO of ChemAxon. “We are happy to see the results of Infocom making more functionality available to KNIME users in this release.”
“KNIME is an already proven and widely used integration platform for a wide range of chemo and bioinformatics tools. The free available components of the JChem Extensions provide excellent rendering capabilities to the users of KNIME", said Prof. Michael Berthold, CEO of KNIME.com. "Infocom’s implementation complements the already rich features of KNIME and makes our solution even more interesting for the Cheminformatics market".
The JChem Extensions for KNIME are another example of how the open source workflow engine can be enhanced with domain specific functionality to deliver an integrated solution to the customers.
