Special Interest Group High Content Analytics - Call for Contribution and Participation

Call for Contribution and Participation

KNIME Special Interest Group High Content Analytics (SIG-HCA)

Kick-Off Meeting
Friday/Saturday, February 26/27, 2010
Zurich, Switzerland

High Content Screening is becoming increasing important - in parallel, processing and analyzing the resulting wealth of information is also receiving growing attention. Several groups have already added components to the open source data analytics environment KNIME for this task, however, the integration of these modules and other available toolkits still remains an unsolved problem. In order to coordinate ongoing developments and stimulate new activities as well as the integration with existing toolkits, a special interest group High Content Analytics (SIG-HCA) was recently created. The aim of this group is to coordinate and support the activities to expand the open source platform KNIME to cover the complete High Content Screening workflow.

The kick off meeting of the Special Interest Group SIG-HCA is scheduled to be held in conjunction with the 3rd KNIME Users Meeting in Zurich, Switzerland.
The meeting's aim will be two fold. Firstly, we want to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry working in the area of high content screening data analysis to present their contributions and application scenarios. Secondly we aim to start working on a unifying framework for the development and use of KNIME for high content screening data analysis and the interaction with other projects.

Please let us know if you are interested in presenting either open source contributions or use cases of such software in the context of high content screening data analysis. Send title and a short abstract to mb@knime.org.

We also want to take this opportunity to form a steering committee that oversees future activities in this area. Please contact us if you are interested in joining the SC of SIG-HCA.

The outline of the program looks as follows:

Friday Afternoon:
- Welcome, Introduction
- Tools & Nodes: Presentations about ongoing projects
- Use Cases: Presentations related to HCS data analysis projects
- Election of Steering Committee
Saturday Morning:
- Round Table Discussion on future direction (API, framework)
